⏱ 5. Recovery and Adjustment Period
While getting braces isn't typically painful, mild discomfort or soreness is common for a few days after placement or adjustments. Over-the-counter pain relievers and soft foods can help during this period. Throughout the treatment, consistent care and adherence to orthodontist instructions lead to optimal results. Once braces are removed, a retainer is usually prescribed to maintain the new alignment. Long-term outlook is very positive if retainers are worn as recommended and good oral hygiene is maintained, offering lifelong benefits in dental function and appearance.
